supporting education
The driving force behind the Russell Forest Run is to help provide educational tools for the kids in the Alexander City School System. In this time of proration, teacher cuts, and program cuts – Russell Forest Run and race sponsors have teamed with the Alexander City Education Foundation to host a challenging race, raise a few dollars for the kids, and let runners have a great race in one of the most beautiful areas in the Southeast – the Russell Forest.
From start to finish, the Russell Forest Run measures 10K and carries runners over rolling hills on sand, clay, and gravel roads that were designed for bicycles and electric cars. The scenic route starts at Russell Crossroads, takes runners near Kob’s Knob, up to Heaven Hill, and back to the finish line at Russell Crossroads. Following the 7:45 am 10K, there will be a 5K run at 7:55 am. Runners from across the nation claim this race as one of their top destination runs.
Registration is $40.00 for the 10K and 5K. To find more information about the Alexander City Education Foundation, please visit The Charity page.
